Babywatcher was founded in 2017 by Raymond Bergs. When Raymond and his wife were expecting a new baby, Raymond was surprised by the fact that only 2 medical ultrasounds were offered. As a future father, he wanted to feel more actively involved in the pregnancy and started looking for possibilities to increase the bonding process. With his successful business background and a burning passion for innovation he started Babywatcher, the world's first baby ultrasound device developed for home use for parents-to-be.

ACTIVITIES

Babywatcher enables expectant parents to easily record ultrasounds where, when and with whom they want. They can make echo footage from the comfort of their own home without the assistance of a medical professional and share the experience and footage with friends and family. The Babywatcher is available to rent and is delivered as a 'plug & play' package including laptop and scan gel. The users get free cloud storage for all images and videos created and so may easily share the footage with loved ones or medical professionals. The device is safe to use thanks to extensive R&D with renowned medical experts and full compliance with FDA and WHO regulations.

RESULTS

The start has already been very successful. Almost immediately, Babywatcher appeared in the list of most promising startups. Subsequently, they won the prestigious Baby Innovation Award, which is granted to the most innovative products around pregnancy and babies. Three years after the start, the milestone of 450,000 ultrasounds has been reached. "I’m really happy that since introduction to the market the Babywatcher has been received with enthusiasm. It shows that there is a real desire for pregnant women to be able to look at their unborn babies more often. Of course, the Babywatcher is not only wonderful for the parents-to-be, but also for the grandparents, little brothers and sisters and other loved ones", says Raymond Bergs, the founder and CEO of Babywatcher.

AMBITION

The Babywatcher is now available in 12 European countries, but for the time being has its focus on the Dutch, German and French market. The investment will be used to accelerate growth in Europe and further optimize the device functionalities like image quality.
